'Learning to Drive made easy with Start to Finish School of Motoring'
What do you need to do before you start learning to drive?
You need to be 17 and have a valid provisional licence. Complete a D1 form from the Post Office and send it to the DVLA with your passport or birth certificate and a passport-sized photo as ID. The current price is £43.00.
Apply for your provisional driving licence up to three months before your 17th birthday and you could book your first lesson for the big day!
How many lessons will you need?
Driving Standards Agency research shows that the current average is 45 hours of tuition, with an additional 22 hours private practice to pass (some people need more, some people will take less) .
How long will the lessons be?
Start to Finish Driving School recommends 2 hour lessons. In 2 hours, you'll have time to take in what the instructor says and put it into practice. You will cut down the number of lessons you need (helping to reduce the overall cost). With one-hour lessons you often spend more time recapping on the last lesson and preparing for next time than you do learning!
